How Our Laptops Empower Indigenous Communities

Did you know, for every laptop you buy from Community Laptops, you’re directly supporting the employment, and training First Nations people.

How?

Well we work with Worldview Foundation, a Supply Nation Registered and ACNC Registered Charity, that offers wrap-around support, training, certifications, and life skills support for Indigenous and First Nations people across Australia. Through their six-month program, Indigenous young people get to learn valuable work skills, like e-waste recycling, resource recovery, leadership, and teamwork. But the program does more than just teach work skills – it also teaches life skills, like navigating housing and legal paperwork, cooking, driving, conflict resolution, emotional resilience, reading, writing, and so much more. And because Worldview is an Indigenous run charity, the mentors who run these programs have lived Indigenous experience and can help pass along cultural connection, learning, and pride.

And at the end of the six-month program, participants in the program get to graduate and are offered a position at WV Technologies - recycling e-waste, recovering reusable resources and refurbishing the very laptops we have for sale on Community Laptops.

Since 2018, Worldview has had over 200 Indigenous graduates pass through its programs and created over $31million in social and community impact. Graduates from Worldview and WV Tech have gone on to have successful careers in banking, construction, security, plumbing, and copper recovery.

So, when you buy a laptop from us, a portion of our profits go back to help fund these amazing programs – programs that help set future Indigenous leaders up for success.

Worldview Foundation is helping to Close the Gap for Indigenous Australians, and at Community Laptops, we're proud to be working towards that vision too.
